International Woolmark Prize Ceremony !

Monday, 23 July 2012

Hey lovely readers!!
I am soo excited to share with you all that I finally attended the International Woolmark Prize Ceremony, held at The Leela Palace, New Delhi; which I had mentioned about in the last post.

I had a great time at the event meeting fellow fashion bloggers- Apurva from Kalapalette, Komal from The Delhi Fashion Blogger, Japna and more... It was an amazing experience being amongst a renowned jury and talented Indian designers.

International Woolmark Prize instituted by The Woolmark Companythe global authority on Merino wool. The award has always aimed to encourage and recognise a generation of young designers who work with wool – fiber and fabric. 50 years ago, this competition helped launch the careers of two fashion icons - Yves Saint Laurent & Karl Lagerfeld

Yves Saint Laurent won this award for dress design, while his fellow designer Karl Lagerfeld was the winner of the coat category as part of the Australian competition judged by a panel including Hubert de Givenchy and Pierre Balmain.

The global competition is being reintroduced this year and included India as one of the five regions - Australia, China, Europe, US and India for the first time. The regional awards required designers to present sketches of a Merino wool capsule collection comprising of 6 outfits with one full outfit to be produced. These collections were judged by a panel of local and international experts. The India judging panel comprised some of the country’s most respected industry representatives including:
  • Priya Tanna – Editor Vogue India
  • Simon P Lock – Founder of Australian Fashion Week
  • Sunil Sethi – President of Fashion Design Council of India
  • Pradeep Hirani – CMD of Kimaya Fashion Pvt Ltd. "
The Judging Panel
Aneeth Arora with her design.
I loved the casually chic style !

Arjun Saluja with his design
More than what the model was wearing, I fell in love with Arjun's outfit- he was dressed so sharply : )
Rimzim Dadu with her design- I loved the sexy one shoulder and the intricate design.
Ritesh Kumar with his design- Casually Smart I would say
Samant Chauhan- oh sooo Wool, he was even appreciated for this quirky oufit.
Zubair Kirmani with his feminine and gorgeous dress.
Our chirpy and charismatic host- Simon P Lock, Founder of Australian Fashion Week
All the 10 outfits which were the part of the contest.

And the the Top Three Designers were -
Oh sooo Bold & Sensuous - Gaurav Gupta
Colorful winters - Pankaj and Nidhi
Classic black and white by Rahul Mishra
And the Winners were - Pankaj and Nidhi for their brilliant use of bright and vibrant shades of wool-

Daniele Piatto, CEO of OVS India with his wife at the event.
Rohit Bal with the Winners Pankaj and Nidhi
The Happy Winners who'll now compete with candidates from the US, Europe, China and Australia at the grand finale of International Woolmark Prize.
Besides the amazing food and drinks, we received this lovely goodies which included a stunning Animal print scarf- Goshh its sooo beautiful, I am already in love with it <3 <3
I couldn't manage to get any pictures of the outfit I wore for the event : ( ( But I wore the printed pants I last mentioned about in my shopping haul with a grey sequin top and black vest with the grey Zara heels )

My favorite designs amongst all the 10 was the monochrome outfit by Rahul Mishra, especially the jacket with its incredible shoulder design. Which one is your favorite??
Next would be up an awesome Giveaway. Meanwhile don't forget to participate in this Sondra Roberts Clutch by Poshfusion.com Giveaway which ends soon.

Loads of love
