Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week - A/W'13 - Best of Day 2 !

Sunday, 7 April 2013

Hey everyone!
In continuation with the last post, here are the updates from Day 2 of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week - A/W'13 organized at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi :

Alpana & Neeraj's collection was a fairytale of goth, glamour and gloss, rendered with a wild intensity. The collection had a dark style with an occasional splash of vagabond culture. The collection saw a span of colours ranging from bone to black, batwing grey to nightsky blues and wines to forest greens.

Anju Modi presented a breathtaking collection, as an ode to patriotism. Structured fabrics with drape-like sarees, her collection could not be described as anything other than fresh. Models wore military headgear, while the stage was filled with patriotic songs to go with the theme.

Arjun Saluja's inquiry into the concept of ONE - Aik - leads him to the collection in which multiplicity is explored via the motifs, print, layering and beading but is unified in simplistic, clean even monastic silhouettes. Employing the square and cube as his guides, Arjun explores a cutting technique that is linear and defined. Wool, Georgette, cotton, tweed silks and self plaids play the role of 'shell' fabrics that contain the 'duality' of contrast linings, concealed zippers and buttons.

Hemant and Nandita's collection spoke of opulence and richness, with the use of deep colors, swirl prints and heavy usage of lace. The collection included various peplum dresses, jackets, skirts and lace pants and more tailored silhouettes.

All that Glitters is Gold - that's what was reflected in Pallavi Mohan's collection - Not So Serious! The collection is strongly influenced by the precious & permanent and in particular lustrous metals. The collection comprised of daywear styles fashioned from silk organza and stingray texture crystal, and outerwear which included metallic yarn jackets in specialist white gold silk jacquard and bombers in full quilt yellow.

Samant Chauhan displayed Rajputa Bikers , which seemed like an elusive story, a figment of a designer’s wild imagination. The collection amalgamated the Biker garb and the centuries old warrior dresses quite closely.

Shantanu & Nikhil's collection took an inspiration from one of Tarek Al — Ghousscin's most beautiful artistic interpretation of sand dunes, which re - imagines the warm desert earthiness with a block of color. The collection felt like a canvas of easy flowing silhouettes with harmonious surfaces that stands like a solid swathe of color.

Tarun Tahiliani presented Kumbhbach collection - which was like an enigma that is the sadhu's style - a sea of unending fabric mysteriously wrapping itself upon itself, to create an aura, a cocoon, a sensuous drape - which were engineered into the modern, structured, sensual drape, characteristic of Tarun Tahiliani. Skirts, kurtis, jackets, dresses, the signature Tarun Tahiliani concept saris, gilets and accessories too, were all imbibed with the distinct mood of India Modern - nestled deep within the designer's own sensibilities.

Urvashi Kaur presented her collection - FEZ - which retained the designer's signature style. It showcased elements of minimalist luxury in an autumnal palette of russet leaves, amber yellows, forest greens, petrol blues, sand and sky greys.

Day 2 saw some amazing collections of all days, and my favorites were Tarun Tahiliani and Anju Modi with their fabulous designs and silhouettes.
More updates to follow.

Loads of love
