Hey lovely readers!
First of all wishing you all a veryyy Happy Diwali ( for all my international readers - Diwali is famously called the Festival of Lights, celebrated all over India with much enthusiasm and joy ). I hope you all are celebrating it with your friends and family, like I am at my home.
Also, I missed to post but it was my birthday yesterday, ie. 1st November - I had a casual family dinner and ofcourse - loads of shopping, which I will share in a post soon.
Coming back to the post, This topic has always affected me, dressing up for your body shape.
We’re all unique, in shape size and fashion
taste, but in a world of ever-changing trends, knowing what to wear to make the
most of what womanhood gave you can make all the difference.
Just like make-up and good hair products, fashion is a tool at your disposal to
make you feel fabulous, therefore, knowing what suits you and what doesn’t, is
key to your fashion confidence. There seems to be four main recognised shapes, and
while I know not every woman can be easily pigeonholed into one, here are my
top tips on how to dress if you’re an hourglass, apple, pear or slim.
Hourglass
Salma Hayek |
An hourglass shape is defined by curvy hips, an in-proportion bust and
small waist. Good celebrity examples of an hourglass honey are Salma Hayek, Scarlett
Johansson and Nicki Minaj. These ladies know how to dress their shape, as they make the most of
their sexy curves and enviable figures. If you’re blessed with curves, use
them. Wear hip-hugging skirts and belt in what you’re wearing to really draw
attention to your teeny-tiny waist. This stripe
knit dress by Marc Jacobs available at Jules
B would be perfect as the vertical stripes slim hips and busts but pull all
the attention to your tiny waist – creating the perfect silhouette. Stick on a
pair of heels for instant leg lengthening and your good to go.
Apple
Kate Winslet |
Apple-shaped
ladies are usually characterized by long, slim legs,
full bust but a little extra weight in their mid-section. Celebrity examples of
proud apples are screen goddesses Catherine Zeta Jones and Kate Winslet. To
dress to impress, try to avoid stretchy, thin jersey tops around your stomach
and opt for romantic loose tops and structured blouses that compliment an
apple’s broader shoulders. Something like this Mango
shirt would be lovely with leg-lengthening black leggings and chunky boots.
Pear
Jennifer Lopez |
A pear-shaped lady usually has very slim shoulders, flat stomach and
smaller busts with bigger thighs, hips and bottom. It’s the most common shape for us girls, so don’t
feel dismayed if your hips are wider that your shoulders. It hasn’t upset
famous pears Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé or Christina Hendricks or deterred them
from making the most of their proportions. The best way to dress for this figure is by drawing attention upward, think printed,
slim-fitting tops with a statement necklace worn with a more basic
bottom to draw the eye to your upper half. Something like a polka dotted boat neck
or this pretty
lace H&M top would be great. Wide-legged trousers also do great things for slimming hips and bums.
Slim
Cameron Diaz |
If you’re slim, your shape is often
characterized by boyish up and down proportions with no, or little curves.
However, this doesn’t mean you can’t look womanly; as Keira Knightley and Cameron Diaz have proved. The trick
is to add shape with clothing, use a high-neck to give the appearance of
a fuller bust or opt for clothing that flares out from the waist to create
hips. A great example of a curve creating jacket is this belted Barbour
jacket, the shoulder and neck detailed coupled with the ability to pull the
waist in will create daytime
curves in no time.
Hope you liked the tips, and this would help you out choosing clothes for your body shape.
Loads of love
