Smart-casuals : A Gentleman’s Guide !

Wednesday, 13 November 2013

Hey everyone!
Hope you are all doing well. Winters are finally in mood now and even I have finally taken out my full sleeved clothes.. but the most annoying part of changing season is arranging your wardrobe and filling in the closet your winter clothes (mine are still lying in the suitcase :D).

Anyways, a couple of weeks back I had attended an event by The Collective held at their DLF Promenade, Delhi store. They had played host to a Trunk show by leading accessories brand Tateossian who displayed their exciting collection of cufflinks for men and women's jewellery.
Also, present at the event was Ekta Rajani, fashion director of Grazia magazine who offered personal style advice to the consumers and even styled a look for me.

Coming back to the post - After going to see Gravity, I was reminded what a style icon Mr George Clooney is. He radiates classic style and fashion confidence, no matter what he’s wearing. In my opinion, more men could put that level of effort into their everyday wardrobe. So, I had a little look at top trends and stylish options to create some handsomely smart-casual looks.

The way to create a great smart-casual look is by mixing and matching items from both camps to create a fresh look. At the heart of the style lies a great pair of jeans. You should never skimp on your denim and its best to buy a pair you know will last; looking good season afters season. These slim fit Edwin jeans available at Liquor Store are the perfect pair of classic blues. Wear them with a little turn up, and flash a bit colour with a fun pair of socks just peeping from some smart brogues or shoes. These Sanders Olly brogue snuff shoes are great, and they also come in green for a more unique style.

With the bottom half sorted, it’s time to dress up the top. A nice shirt always look great tucked into quality denim, this Mosca check shirt would be perfect. Team that with a smart jacket, such as this ASOS Donegal blazer, and you’re on your way to Clooney levels of style
For colder months, try layering this look with a smart jumper under the blazer - the check of the Mosca shirt would look great when peeking out of a nice knit. It’s also important to nail the accessories, as they can make or break an outfit. Stick with the classic - go for a nice tan leather belt and, if you decide to co-ordinate a smart tie with the look, be sure to find a fancy tie pin for major fashion points. Something like this Duchamp mother of pearl tie bar would be perfect.

So there you go guys, it’s not that hard to do the smart-casual look. And ladies, who knows, maybe I’ve given you a few good ideas for any upcoming birthday gifts.

Loads of love
Nitika
